playa las palmas

We truly cherish hidden gems in Baja and often opt out in sharing by withholding exact locations and sometimes sharing visual captures. This beach was one of those places for a vey long time, until a couple years ago which is the only reason why we’re sharing it today…

Imagine this: you hop in your car and embark on a desert road trip that feels straight out of a movie. Dusty trails, winding paths through 20ft cacti, and a whole lot of anticipation lead you to a gated entrance, but don't let that gate deter you – it's just the beginning of the adventure! Once you're through, a grove of palm trees welcomes you with open fronds, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of some wild horses roaming free. Tip: admire them from a distance – they're beautiful but very territorial! As you make your way through the palms, the anticipation builds until finally, there it is: Playa Las Palmas, a breathtaking cove hugged by rugged cliffs, and framed by towering palms and clear blue waters. It's also where the mountain water (agua dulce) streams meet with the salty waters of the Pacific Ocean — it’s magical.

This place holds a special place in our hearts, it’s not only our favorite beach but one of our favorite places in Baja Sur, so here's the deal: we’re sharing this little slice of heaven with you, but you’ve gotta keep it pristine. Remember that you are a visitor here, help us maintain the natural beauty of this land, we ask that you to do your part by keeping the beaches clean. Dispose of your trash responsibly, and if you spot litter, please consider picking it up. Together, we can ensure these treasures remain unspoiled for generations to come.

Playa Las Palmas, it's a beach experience you won't want to miss.

Amidst the enchantment, CAUTION: Once again it’s essential to maintain a safe distance from the wild horses for your safety. Additionally, refraining from bringing food is advisable, as they may attempt to snatch it during your picnic. Furthermore, be mindful of security concerns, as the parking area is known for break-ins. Avoid leaving personal belongings unattended in your vehicle. We also highly recommend getting here in a 4x4 car the roads are very bumpy especially after the rainy season.
